We are in receipt of a document relative to the above bessel's return sugar fixture from Java, and we herewith confirm our conversation with your goodself this moming in connection with the proposed arrangement.

1. We consider the document very vague and inadequate from

a commercial point of view, inasmuch that the owner's rights are not safeguarded and that the Charterers are very well protected.

Who is the Captain to notify in writing when discharged at Sourabaya? What are the Agents' names?

The loading is subiect to the usual terms of trip Charter Party. What are the usual terms? This should be clearly defined.

4. To be paid to omers upon true and right delivery: This

should also be definitely settled.

5. Steamer is to be loaded with customary quick despatch,

subject, however to any restrictions immosed by the Dutch Government on the exort of sugar. The number of tons (per 20 cwt.) to be loaded per day should be stated. Customary quick despatch may mean anything. The Govern- ment and the owners by this agreement would take all risk

of demurrage. The rate of demurrage should be stated.

6. How is discharge to be arranged? We see that there are to

be two consignments, Jardine, and Butterfield & Swire,

which will most likely mean changing anchorages at this

port.

7. Can the usual deck passengers be carried for owners'
